Young Academics Award

The German Sport University Cologne is offering four Young Academics Awards for excellent scientific theses. Graduate students of the GSU are eligible to apply. The call is for “excellent” theses that have been finished in 2021and of which the evaluation is available upon submission. Deadline is February, 27th, 2022.

A prize money of 1,000 Euros each will be awarded for:

  • The Young Academics Award of the GSU for the best Master / Examination thesis in the category social sciences and humanities in the year 2021
  • The Young Academics Award of the GSU for the best Master / Examination thesis in the category life sciences in the year 2021

as well as a prize money of 1,500 Euros each for

  • The Young Academics Award of the GSU for the best dissertation on the category social sciences and humanities in the year 2021
  • The Young Academics Award of the GSU for the best dissertation on the category life sciences in the year 2021

Applications should include the following documents:

  • Copy of the thesis
  • Summary of the thesis (max. 1,800 characters excluding spaces, ca. ½ page)
  • Information about first and second reviewer
  • CV
  • Copy of the degree certificate, also indicating the grade of the thesis
  • Signed declaration of data protection

Please indicate the field of your application (“social sciences and humanities” or “life sciences”), for which you would like to submit your documents. If your degree certificate has not been issued yet, you can submit a written confirmation of the examination office or the PhD office (Department of Research and Young Academics), respectively, indicating the grade and outcome of the process.
