Funding opportunities for International sport students
Living expenses in Germany are slightly above average in Europe and lie around 800€ per month. Covering these costs constitutes a major challenge for many students. Certain programs offer the opportunity to receive financial support both for national and international students. This page shall give you a brief overview.
- DAAD stipend
The DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst / German Academic Exchange Service) provides funding for studies abroad as well as in Germany both for national and international students. The organisation annually supports over 100.000 students and researchers. The DAAD also aims at students from developing countries.

- Deutschlandstipendium
Over 22.500 students benefit from this national program which has been created by the Federal Government of Germany. The program is a partnership between public and private institutions with the main goal of rewarding talented students. Recipients are awarded with 300€ per month for at least two semesters plus the opportunity to take part in specific mentoring programmes, networking events and internships. The selection process doesn´t take the personal / parents´ income nor the respective nationality into consideration.

- The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung
The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung is a political foundation which offers financial assistance to international and German students with grades above average and who show "awareness of social responsibility", mainly including a social or political involvement. Students can receive up to 1000€ per month, the sum covering enrollment fees, the health insurance and the monthly required books/study materials.

- Heinrich Böll Stiftung
The Heinrich Böll foundation provides support for international and German students, including refugees, at all degree levels. However, the foundation mainly awards students who plan to study STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and especially those programmes with a focus on environmental science. Other support is dedicated to students who apply for economics, legal studies, journalism and art degrees.

- Konrad Adenauer Stiftung
International students who plan to obtain a Master´s degree or their Ph.D. in Germany are eligible for the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) stipends. Graduates (master or postgraduate students) receive a monthly support. The standard funding period is two years. Applicants should also be aware of the 30 years age limit.
