Sports-related international development cooperation has gained in importance in recent years and projects with different objectives are increasingly being implemented by actors from government and development organisations, sports organisations or universities.
The book is divided into two parts: The first part provides a development policy basis and outlines German development cooperation. In particular, it discusses the role football can play in the context of development cooperation. The contribution of university research and teaching is also discussed. The second part of the book focuses on different approaches from practice. The activities of the United Nations and the Federal Foreign Office are presented as well as various projects. This is intended to show the broad spectrum of the contribution of sport in development cooperation.
