The International Journal of the History of Sport (Special Issue): Olympic Perspectives
Since 2009 the German Sport University Cologne has a triangular research partnership with the University of Western Ontario (London, Canada) and Victoria University (Melbourne, Australia). Research collaborations are pursued in subjects such as biomechanics, exercise science, sport medicine, physical education and Olympic Studies. As to the latter, the research output of the three universities has been published in a Special Issue "Olympic Perspectives" in the prestigious international journal The International Journal of the History of Sport.
The Special Issue was edited by Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong (Olympic Studies Centre Cologne), who coordinated the activities, Richard Baka (Victoria University) and Janice Forsyth (University of Western Ontario). Amongst the published articles in the Special Issue are the papers "Striving for Athletic Excellence: A Core Value and Challenge for the Profile of the Ancient and Modern Olympic Games" by Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong and Dr. Christoph Bertling (Institute of Communication and Media Research) and Born on the Wings of Commerce - The World Championships of the International Association of Athletics Federations by Dr. Jörg Krieger (Olympic Studies Centre Cologne).
