Dr. Marco Rathschlag is a senior lecturer at the Institute of Exercise Training and Sport Informatics (Department II: Cognition- and Sports Games Research) at the German Sport University Cologne. He is a psychologist as well as a sports scientist and combines these two areas in research and teaching. His PhD in 2014 dealt with the influence of emotions on athletic performance. He is also an A-licence holder in handball and is a self-employed mental trainer with an office in Cologne. In handball, he is involved in charitable work as a mental coach for the handball department of Bayer 04 Leverkusen in addition to his teaching activities at the German Sport University.
