The German Study Award annually honors the best German doctoral students of all disciplines. In addition to scientific excellence, the specific social significance of the research contributions is what counts most: Young scientists are encouraged to emphasize the social value of their own research achievements and to engage in a public debate about them. The patron of the German Study Award is the President of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Schäuble.
For substantial and innovative research contributions, the Körber Foundation awards prizes with a total value of over 100,000 euros, including three top prizes of 25,000 euros each. The German Study Prize is thus one of the highest endowed prizes for young scientists in the Federal Republic of Germany. The competition is aimed at doctoral students of all scientific disciplines who have completed their doctorate with magna or summa cum laude.
