CRIS portal features (e.g. Network map, Fingerprints, SDG Buttons, Metrics)
CRIS features in database and research portal
The CRIS portal enables the use of four resp. five features or tools that can be used to sharpen the research profiles of the DSHS Researchers and Research units in their presentation to the public. In detail, these are the following features:
- The Network feature, which comprises two tools: The Network map and the Network diagrams;
- the Fingerprints;
- the SDG buttons;
- and the Metrics.
You can usually turn on and off the use of these features to better present your research achievements through resp. in the public CRIS portal. In the case of the Network features and the Fingerprints, you also have the option of only using them to a limited extent.
With the exception of the metrics, optimal use of all features requires that when creating data entries of the various data types (e.g., your personal data entry or the data entry of your Research unit, Publications, Projects, Prizes, etc.) in the CRIS database, you pay close attention to ensuring that all essential research information is also entered in English. To do this, always use the “Translation” tab in the respective data type masks. This is because the first three features can only access this research information automatically if it is available in English. See “CRIS-Helpdesk starting page → Bilingualism and preference of English”.
In addition, in order to make optimal use of the Network features, you must make sure to specify the exact affiliations of your research partners from external Research units. See “CRIS-Helpdesk starting page → Affiliations of external Researchers”.
Attached are screenshots to illustrate where you can make settings for the individual features or tools in the CRIS database and where they are used in the CRIS portal:
Clicking on each feature (below) will take you to the corresponding explanations of the settings you can make in the CRIS database in order to ensure the optimal presentation of your research achievements in the public CRIS portal.
