The Institute of Outdoor Sports and Environmental Science deals with outdoor education and the variousopportunities for teaching, applications and research outdoors.

The focus is on the interactions between everyday, tourist and performance-oriented sport activity, society and the space used. Overall, the Institute teaches more than 25 types of outdoor sports and provides additional offers within the framework of the University´s further education as well as the additional qualification of “Sports and Environmental Management”. Since the winter semester of 2008/09, the Institute has led and coordinated the interdisciplinary Master of Science in Sport Tourism and Recreation Management.

By taking a holistic approach and allowing constant interaction between theoretical concepts and practical applications, the Institute is able to keep a finger on the pulse of current developments and perform innovative research for modern applications.
