Meeting with IOA president Dr. Tsolakis

On 25th February, Prof. Stephan Wassong had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Harry Tsolakis, the newly elected President of the International Olympic Academy (IOA), at the IOA headquarters in Athens. Dr. Makis Asimakopoulos, the IOA Director (attended via Zoom), and Prof. Kostas Georgiadis, the IOA Dean, also participated. Prof. Wassong briefed the President on the longstanding relationship between the IOA and the German Sport University Cologne (GSU) and its Olympic Studies Centre's academic profile. 

Discussions covered the M.A. Olympic Studies program’s strong international profile and the development of the IOA’s academic advisory board, of which Prof. Wassong has been a member for four years. Prof. Georgiadis emphasised the need to hold a module of the M.A. Olympic Studies at the IOA in the future. 

Prof. Wassong supported the initiative and will begin discussions with the programme´s staff members Janka Deszatnik and Daniel Quanz as well as all module leaders involved.
