Olympic Seminar of the International Olympic Academy (IOA) in Bahrain.

The IOA has organized several workshops on Olympic Studies in collaboration with the Bahrain Olympic Committee respectively its National Olympic Academy (BOA). While our colleague from the M.A. Olympic Studies Dr. Emilio Fernández Peña taught on the IOA/BOA programme in April, Stephan Wassong delivered a series of lectures between 12-16 May in Manama. He talked about the topic "The Athlete in Society" and delivered the following four keynote lectures: "IOC Athletes` Commission", "Dual Career for Athletes", "Athletes as Role Models" and "The Paralympic Athlete".

Stephan Wassong had the pleasure of meeting the Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Mr. Faris Mustafa Al-Koohejl. In an interesting conversation, information was shared on the concept of dual careers for athletes and the importance of the collaboration with the IOA. The Secretary General also showed great interest in the international profile of the Olympic Studies Centre of the German Sport University Cologne and the M.A. Olympic Studies.
