Team of the German Sport University Cologne takes part in Olympia seminar in Olympia/Greece

For the 10th time the sport scientific Olympia seminar of the German Olympic Academy took part from the 02nd - 10th of September 2017 – once again hosted by the International Olympic Acadamy in Olympia/Greece. In the framework of this study trip – which also involved a visit to Athens as well as to ancient competition and excavation sites – a multifaceted and interdisciplinary discourse about historic and current questions regarding the Olympic movement was held. Once again, the German Sport University Cologne took part with a group of students, accompanied by Dr. Ansgar Molzberger from the Institute of Sport History/Olympic Studies Centre – they were part of 80 participants from ten universities. In their courses they addressed the topic "Trend sport as a part of the competitive program of the Olympic Games".

Bereits zum zehnten Mal fand vom 2. - 10. September 2017 das Sportwissenschaftliche Olympiaseminar der Deutschen Olympischen Akademie statt, Veranstaltungsort war einmal mehr die Internationale Olympische Akademie in Olympia/Griechenland. Im Rahmen der Studienreise – die auch einen Besuch Athens sowie antiker Wettkampf- und Ausgrabungsstätten umfasste – wurde ein facettenreicher und interdisziplinärer Diskurs über historische und aktuelle Fragen der Olympischen Bewegung geführt, insgesamt nahmen achtzig Vertreterinnen und Vertreter von zehn Universitäten teil. Auch die Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln war erneut mit einer Studierendengruppe, begleitet von Dr. Ansgar Molzberger vom Institut für Sportgeschichte/Zentrum für Olympische Studien, vor Ort. In ihren Lehrveranstaltungen behandelte sie das Thema „Trendsport im Wettkampfprogramm der Olympischen Spiele“.
